Simvastatin side effects

The simvastatin is one of the fermentation products that are found from the Aspergillus terreus. It is normally synthetic in nature and it is found in the statin class in the pharmaceuticals. It is a drug which is used to control any increase in cholesterol also known as the hypercholesterolemia. The medicine also can be used as a lipid when there is a need to lower the medicine that is used to decrease the low density lipoproteins. There is also some time where the simvastatin can be used to decrease the triglyceride levels. It can be found in generic type and it can be used to treat some kind of heart diseases too.

Even if there are many simvastatin side effects, some patients who are taking it may not experience anything. Sometime the simvastatin side effects are not serious and they may only be treated by your care provider. However, sometime the side effects are too severe and the person may need to stop the medicine altogether. If you are on the simvastatin and you find out that you are experiencing the weakness, the tenderness, light illness or muscle pain, you should contact your doctor as soon as possible.

The simvastatin side effects are the following

-         slight headache

However, the patient can have some of the following side effects.

-         the muscle pain,

-         the pain in joints

-         the breakdown of muscle

-         insomnia

-         anxiety

-         depression in mind

-         allergic reaction

-         developing breast in men

-         hepatitis

-         pancreatitis

-         cataracts

-         rashes

-         itching

-         and sometime impotence.

In some people their liver enzymes increase or they may begin to experience the vertigo.

The people may experience the above side effects and in other cases they may not experience anything or totally different side effects from these said above. This is why everyone is advised to talk to a health care before and after taking the simvastatin.

The simvastatin dosage will also dictate the outcome of the treatment. Each patient may have his own dosage according to the age, to the medication he is taking, according to the weight and to other medical conditions he may be having. However, there are some guidelines that people should follow so that they will not overdose. You should always try to consult the doctor about the dosage you have to use.

Normally the adults begin on the 5 or 10 mg taken in evening. The maintenance dosage can be between 5 mg up to 80 mg according to the tolerance of the body to the medicine. When there is a need to change the dosage, then it should only be done in the intervals of 4 weeks. The patient who has the liver problem should not take this medicine. For the people who are taking the cyclosporine, gemfibrozil and danazol should never take the dosage that exceeds 10 mg.
